Gerde's Folk City. Originally an Italian restaurant it started presenting folk music in January 1960 as the Fifth Peg; six months later the name was changed  to Gerde's Folk City. Among other historic events it has it's place in the story of Bob Dylan...he played his first professional NYC show there, opening for John Lee Hooker, April 1961...he met Joan Baez there...on April 16, 1962, he played "Blowin' in the Wind" there for the first time in public..."
