Chapel of St. John the Baptist in the Church of Saint Roch (São Roque church), Lisbon, Portugal. Considered to be a masterpiece unique in European art, this chapel was ordered from Rome in 1740 by King John V.
This is Ouro Preto, meaning Black Gold in Portuguese. It is located in the state of Minas Gerais. In the 1700's, under Portuguese rule, Ouro Preto had an enormous gold rush. The city is protected due to its large amount of Baroque architecture. Today it is a tourist town which still mines aluminum, manganese and marble. Photo from Saffron and Silk.
Her name was POLLY. She was an a.m. alarm clock, with four loud shrill whistles ending in a British accent -- "Polly is the QUEEEEEN'S Trumpeter" Her home was on Grand Cayman. Just a beautiful huge bird !
