This Sicilian tile depicts a bird. The tile is entirely handmade and hand painted in Caltagirone by Giacomo Alessi, one of the most relevant ceramic artists in Italy. For his Medieval Collection, Alessi draws inspiration from the subjects of the Sicilian pottery made during the Middle Ages. He is particularly fascinated by the animals, which were popular subjects and symbols of human vices and virtues.
