A fixture in college football for over four decades, Joe Paterno passed away on January 22, 2012, from complications from lung cancer. "JoePa" as he was fondly known served as the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions from 1966 until 2011 and won 409 games, the most of any NCAA Division I coach in history. Paterno was 85.
