SLIDESHOW: 8 ghost towns in Mississippi - WDAM-TV 7-News, Weather…

The Last Motel / First Motel in Texas, in Glenrio, an old ghost town on Route 66 on the Texas - New Mexico border. A Glenrio fun fact: The town's name is formed from the English "glen" for valley, and the Spanish "rio" for river, eventhough the town doesn't sit in a valley or near a river. The town was founded in 1903, after a railroad line was established in the vacinity. In 1938, a film crew spent about 3 weeks filming portions of the film "The Grapes of Wrath."
