I was surprised at how much the element of color, or lack there of, played a role in the definition of objects. The white of the wave crests helped them to stand out greatly in the blues of the sea.

These strange, tsunami wave shaped clouds were seen across the sky last Friday in Birmingham, Alabama. The unusual phenomenon is an example of Kelvin-Helmholtz waves, when a fast layer moves over a slower layer and drags the top along creating a curled shape.

Notice the cloud formation echoing the wave formation. It is worthwhile remembering that our atmosphere is fluid, that clouds are water vapor, and are subject to the same physical forces as the wave.
