Emerald Goddess® Lilyturf is superior because its foliage remains dark green throughout winter, it is highly resistant to crown rot, and has good cold and drought tolerance. Its strap-leaf foliage can be arranged to appear either very formal as edging or quite informal in irregularly shaped drifts and clumps.
Is the amaryllis you forced still in bloom? As the flowers fade, remove the spent flower stalks and they will often be replaced by a second or even a third blooming stem. But don't cut back the long, strap-like leaves that sprout from the bulb. Continue to nurture the leaves by keeping the amaryllis plant in bright light and applying an all-purpose fertilizer every 3-4 weeks. This allows the bulb to store energy for more blooms next season.
