A manger is a feed trough found in a stable. In Bible times mangers were made from clay mixed with straw or from stones held together with mud; sometimes they were carved in natural outcroppings of rock. I took the above photograph at Megiddo where this manger was used in the stables of King Ahab.
Christmas Play Dough 1 cup of salt zest of 1 orange pinch of nutmeg 3 cloves pinch of cinnamon 2 cups of plain flour 2 tablespoons of oil 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. 11/2 cups of boiling water food color Add some extra shine by pouring in a little glycerine. Add a good dash of glitter – it is a Christmas Day play dough recipe after all. Knead the dough for a few minutes and then you’re done. Wrap the play dough in a plastic bag and it will last into the new year.
