I'm jealous of everyone that gets to be out enjoying the end of the beginning of spring migration! Virtual birding for me this weekend. For the other unfortunate souls stuck in front of a computer as I am, here is a Brandt's Cormorant to enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150612410026836=o.355103211184724=1

Love the deep purple color of the head and neck on this high breeding aspect Little Blue Heron. Also notice that the eye becomes dark for a short period during the spring. While they have a yellowish eye the rest of the year, it tends to a have a dull greenish tint and is never brilliant, clear yellow like the eye of Snowy Egret. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150873853256836=p.10150873853256836=1

A diamond in the rough photo! Just found this among my images from the St. Augustine Alligator Farm this spring. A little photoshopping and voila: A fun Snowy Egret image! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150957030311836=o.355103211184724=1

Not only does spring bring us an increase in bird diversity and activity, the season for butterflies and dragonflies is just beginning! More and more birders are rounding out their time in the field by enjoying insects, herps, and other things that creep, crawl, or photosynthesize. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150631212466836=o.355103211184724=1

It's that time of year! Newly fledged Wilson's Plovers are running around the Georgia beaches and beginning to stage for their migration south. Taken with a Leica V-LUX 3. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100623537113534=o.355103211184724=1

Green Heron, digiscoped with Leica Televid 82 and Leica D-Lux 5. Green Heron is a stunning summer resident of Ohio's wetlands. A bird with an attitude, it's quite wary and bursts out a "KALWP...KAWLP KAWLP" when alarmed. Shot by Jen Brumfield at North Chagrin Reservation in NE Ohio. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=455310621163982=a.361898940505151.101829.355103211184724=1

Had a Tufted Titmouse "complaining" about something in the backyard, so I went out to check. I expected an owl or a snake or something since it was making such a fuss, but found only the Titmouse so took a quick image with the V-Lux 3 camera, Florida, USA. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3264820014386=o.355103211184724=1

Waterfowl are really on the move right now. I've heard several recent reports of big fallouts of waterfowl following major storms. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150605289281836=o.355103211184724=1
