July 4, 1862. Charles Dodgson and Robinson Duckworth take the Liddell sisters on an outing. Dodgson is better known today by his pen name, Lewis Carroll, and the youngest Liddell girl was named Alice. On the way, Dodgson told the girls a story involving a little girl who fell down a rabbit hole. Shown is Dodgson's portrait of Alice as Queen of the May.
