In 18th Century Paris, businesses usually hung signs that clearly illustrated what service they provided outside their shop. This 18th Century Sign is for a Butcher. These signs were designed so that even the illiterate could decipher what service was provided. I like them better than our ugly neon signs today, don't you? ~Leah Marie Brown
