On the night of 27/28 April 1944, Lancaster ND759 came under attack by a German nightfighter piloted by Oblt Wilhelm Johnen of 6/NJG5, near Lake Constance. Two of the crew bailed out, one drowned in the lake the other was made a POW. The rest of the crew ditched in the lake, then they rode the dinghy to Switzerland and were interned. These photos show the wreck being recovered in 1953. It was displayed at Steckborn, then sadly broken up for scrap in 1955.
