Millichope Park, nr Ludlow, Shropshire. By Edward Haycock, c1837-40, for the Revd Robert Norgrave Pemberton. The approach is through a romantic ravine amidst exquisitely landscaped 14 acre gardens; the classical house, with Ionic portico, is set on a slope above the lake. The original unique subterranean entrance, leading up through a dark hall and stairway into the 2-storey central galleried hall, is no longer used. Owned by the Bury family since 1896.
