The Alco-licensed 44 class, based on Alco's DL500B model, were built in two batches by AE Goodwin - 60 delivered July 1957 to April 1961 and 40 October 1965 to December 1967. They served every part of NSW and operated every type of train. They are very similar to SAR 930 class.
