Still Working
A portrait by George Caleb Bingham painted in 1859. I was struck by how light and luminous the shadows in the face are. This is something I am trying to notice more and incorporate into my own work. Bingham also captured the differentiations of fabrics by mixing different tones of black. That’s something I am incorporating into the Rembrandt study I’m still working on.
