The Slovensky Kuvac was bred in medieval Slovakia for guarding livestock. It remains a fearless & powerful defender of its territory and of people it considers part of its pack. With its own family, it can be dramatically affectionate. The Slovensky was almost extinct following World War II but was brought back to life by Doctor Antonin Hruza. The breed is not recommended around children, nor strangers, nor other dogs, nor in urban spaces. It handles cold well but sheds proficiently.
