Johan Aason  8′ 9-1/4″  Johan was born in America the year that his mother moved there from Norway. He beats John Rogan to the second spot on this list by a mere 1/4 of an inch. Interestingly his mother was also a giant, at 7’2″. According to his death certificate from Mendocino State Hospital, at the time of death he was 9’2″ – if this is true then he is the tallest recorded human – beating our number 1 spot by 3 inches. He is buried in Montana.

Ella Kate Ewing (March 1872 - January was a Missouri woman considered the world's tallest female of her era. She would use her great height to earn a living as a sideshow attraction, popularly known as "The Missouri Giantess.

Grace McDaniels (1888 - August 1958), AKA the "Mule Faced Woman," was born in Numa, Iowa. She was called the Mule faced Woman because, obviously, her face resembled that of a mule's. The reasoning behind this ugly exterior is that she had had lip cancer which caused her lip to swell. After about thirty years, her lip was so swollen that she was able to join a freak show. She was married and had a child. She later retired and moved to Tampa, Florida. She then died of lip cancer in 1958.
