Bondi Hardware, 39 Hall Street, Bondi. Good tunes, mini hotdogs and a kick-arse Hardware Maria made with a splash of beetroot juice and a sesame salt rim are reasons enought to visit this Bondi bar set up in the old Thrifty Link Hardware store.
The Stuffed Beaver, 271 Bondi Road, Bondi, NSW 2026. Nothing at The Stuffed Beaver is conventional in any sense of the word. Wild west circa 1992, the bar is cramped with retro memorabilia, the staff are tattooed and their 90s music is blaring. Tequila is the drink of choice and deep southern food such as fried chicken wings and fries with gravy and cheese will satisfy your grumbling stomach.
101 Hall Street, Bondi Change things up and go for the cold drip. It comes with a little jug of coconut water that gives the coffee a perfumed, almost floral flavour. Also have green eggs. or just a bowl of coco pops if that's what you like.
106 Glenayr Street, Bondi. The small things: the meat being sliced to order, the menu consisting of only one thing (piadina, a kind of Italian pizza/flatbread type thing originating in Emilia-Romagna) and the good-looking Italian men running the shop.
Bondi FM, 143 Curlewis St, Bondi Beach 2026. The yard is shared with neighbouring Roy's Tapas but the two venues blend like cabernet and merlot, and everyone seems to get along fine – everyone being local hipsters packing a surfboard, a dog, or a vintage designer handbag from Bondi Markets.
