black marine ply will be the floor boards...layed directly on top of chip board and fastened with tech screws. minimal machining only to fill in gaps. looks like black japan. hardware store blokes bemused.
so marine form ply is always a favourite material. have used it previously as splash back and cabinetry. this time 'round, bench top. the hardware store is most disbelieving; which for me is an ace sign.
it took a decade to get my mits on an atomic and landed this baby 2 years ago from ebay. a bit of a homer bowling ball present. gave it to my partner so i could have it in the house. it also makes beautifully strong and caramelly coffee. in fact it gets a hammering. used at least 20 times a week.
a bit of a splurge, but off to ikea tomorrow as is about 1/4 of the price. should look kinda striking against black benchtop. however considered practicalities like the unforgiving smash of porcelain on porcelain/ceramic/glass.
spot lights for kitschen's these days are exie and fucking ugly as sin. so, until mainstream LED stockists picks up pace with my mundane taste, it will be these galvanised tin exterior lights. 6 of 'em. i lovE lovE lovE them.
