Having the shoulder block/carriage as an assist helps students feel more supported. I find when they feel safer, they go a bit lower and deeper into the squat. I also love it because the momentum of the carriage on the way back provides an extra challenge since you have to resist the fast return of the carriage, making the hips and core work harde
