Live Crime Writer Event – Great to be back in front of a live audience (Clunes Booktown 1 May 2021)
Love talking rural noir, especially when we have an awesome live audience! It was terrific to be part of a rural crime panel with fellow writers Katherine Kovacic, Lyn Yeowart and our chair Maggie Baron at Clunes Booktown Turn the Page Festival! And a real pleasure to revisit the country town of Clunes and to sign books after our session. My new book BLACK CLOUD is set nearby. #sistersincrime #crime #books #authors #clunes #korweinguboora #daylesford (Photo credit Carmel Shute, Sisters in Crime)
Crime Takes to the Back Roads – Interrogating Rural Crime (Saturday 1 May 2021)
Excellent time at Clunes Booktown Turn the Page Festival talking rural noir with fellow crime writers Katherine Kovacic, Lyn Yeowart and our panel chair Maggie Baron! Many thanks to our enthusiastic audience for making it such fun! It was beyond great to be in front of a live crowd on a live panel in a stunning venue (Clunes Town Hall) in a beautiful country town and to sign books after the session. #sistersincrime #crime #books #authors #clunes (Photo credit Carmel Shute, Sisters in Crime)

Crime She Wrote Belgrave Library 2019
Me and my fellow crime writers DB (Deb) Tait (pictured to my left) and Michelle Somers (right) go by "Crime She Wrote", and together at Belgrave Library in October we dissected what we love about the crime genre, delved into the darker side of it, and debated if crime fiction is merely for escapism and entertainment or if it's a powerful tool. (Spoiler: we think it's all that and more!) On top of all that, we thoroughly enjoyed questions from the enthusiastic and warm audience.
Talking crime again at Coal Creek Literary Festival 2019
Thrilled to be invited to return in 2019 to be part of this wonderful literary festival, I had a fab time chatting with my fellow crime writer Suzi Fox about our books, writing and weird writing ways. The rest of the program was highly entertaining and we wrapped up with all authors on a fun panel!
Crime Writing Workshop at Romance Writers of Australia Conference 2019
Incredible fun taking an advanced craft workshop on crime writing at the RWA Conference in 2019! My only wish every time I have an opportunity to teach a crime-writing workshop is that I could have longer with my participants!
Newcastle Writers Festival crime writer panel and crime writing workshop 2019
A thrill and honour to be part of Newcastle Writers Festival in 2019! I had wonderful fun chatting with fellow crime writers Mark Brandi (second from left in photo) and Chris Hammer (pictured right) about the popularity of Aussie noir and what lends the Australian landscape to great crime stories, with excellent questions by crime writer Jaye Ford (far left). I also relished the opportunity to share my passion for crime writing via a workshop for budding writers. One might be a big name soon?
Talking crime at Cowes Library 2019
What a delight it was to chat about our motives and drivers and all things crime writing with my fellow crime writers Michelle Somers (left of picture) and Sarah Bailey (right) at Cowes Library in January 2019! We enjoyed fabulous questions from the packed audience and thank Lois Gaskin of Turn the Page Bookshop Cowes (between me and Sarah) for helping to organise the fun event.
Thrilled with wins at Scarlet Stiletto Awards 2019
What a thrill to accept two Scarlet Stiletto Awards from the very lovely and talented guest speaker, actor Geraldine Hakewill, star of Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (hence the 1960s dress theme for this year's awards night) and co-star of Wanted. My short crime story Sweet Baby Dies won Best Romantic Suspense Award and is part of the collection of winning stories Scarlet Stiletto: The Eleventh Cut. My second story Abandon was awarded a Special Commendation.
