The old Daylesford Police station - Place is my muse
The action in Dead Again is shared between Bullock, a tiny hamlet in the Murrindindi district of central Victoria, the spa town of Daylesford, and a tiny place between Daylesford and Castlemaine called Yandoit. This is the police station on Camp Street where Franklin is based in the time of Dead Again, though a new police station has since replaced it in Vincent Street.
Steavenson Falls - Place is my muse
Though many people tragically have their own experiences of major bushfires, an event known as Black Saturday (and Black February) inspired the backstory of Dead Again as a way to honour those who fought, survived and died in the fires, and the lessons learned. Marysville (near these waterfalls) is one of the areas significantly impacted by Black Saturday and helped inform my tiny, fictional town of Bullock. All characters and incidents in Dead Again are fictitious though.
