In 1961 Dick West acquired some plans from America and built a 30 foot high ‘Moon Rocket’ slippery dip, which was erected in Blackheath, Blue Mountains. It was so popular that over the next few years he built 37 more all over Australia. Dick built a variety of play equipment including a stage coach, submarines, old woman’s shoe, elephant slippery dip," HMS Endeavour", a space capsule, a Tiger Moth biplane, a vintage car and a dinosaur. These were installed in playgrounds across Australia.

Blackheath Park,,Wests Engineering built rocket and other playground equipment. The rocket was the standout, but there was a pretty impressive biplane as well. We were allowed to climb without fear.
