Guild Group DM Campaign Hero Image Retouching
The idea for this Guild Group direct mail DL flyer was simple but highly original. An EFTPOS machine with the tagline of "Paying too much on EFTPOS fees?" on the screen. Above was a small tab with "PULL HERE". When the reader pulled on the tab, out came a receipt with Guild's competitive offer. The Fuel Agency had photography from a studio shoot and needed a final composited image without branding and edited to suit the DL print size. Stephen was able to clean up the raw images and take off any identifying marks. He extended the length to fit a DL format and increased the screen size to integrate the tagline. The outcome was a clean, highly polished piece of retouching ready for use in this unique direct mail campaign.

Stephen’s take on Salvador Dali’s original – “Sleep”.
To promote the talent they had available, the Merrilake agency commissioned a calendar to promote the range of art styles their illustrators could achieve. The headline for the publication would be: "Merrilake Illustrators are not just bums on seats!". Each of Merrilake's twelve freelance illustrators, one for each month, would create an image in the style of their favourite artist that expressed this heading visually. Salvador Dali was Stephen's artist of choice. He based his illustration on Dali's classic painting “Sleep”, matching the tone and feel of the painting as closely as possible, while at the same time subverting it with a “bum” propped up on crutches instead of a bodiless head. Stephen was also Merrilake's only digital artist at that point in time, and so to highlight this f

Fisher-Price Catalogue Walk-through
Ishimodo's client, Mattel, had developed new guidelines for the Fisher-Price brand. And they needed to revise the print catalogue localised to the Australian market with this updated visual system. Stephen built out a well-defined layout grid structure for the catalogue, allowing for the playful use of the new brand materials. The outcome was a layout that flowed effortlessly from one page to the next, with clearly defined sections, making it easy for parents to find toys suitable for their child's developmental stage.

Byron Vista Social Club Logo
Part of the mission statement for the Byron Vista Social Club (BVSC) was "to cultivate community spirit through music and to help develop culture-based tourism”. They wanted to create an alternative to the noisy, alcohol-related entertainment venues and present the truly local (Northern Rivers, NSW) culture at its best. They held monthly radio-style concerts with an intimate atmosphere that showcased top songwriters and musicians from the area. All shows were digitally recorded for later distribution. When commissioned to create the BVSC logo, Stephen looked to 1950’s historical references for inspiration. He landed on the designs of the Sure and RCA radio microphones, building an illustrative interpretation of these classic designs. The result was a brand logo that captured the spirit
