Vertical Herb Garden-In the dried Western US states, pots dry out quickly.  A better set-up is to have the drip lines through holes drilled in the wall that the lines drip in the pots on a daily basis in hot weather, and if over 100 degrees, twice a day. If painted with a washable paint, herb labeling in chalk is a terrific idea if you want to change out pots with different herbs.

"Actually I keep mine in the same pots they come in, every other day they get submerged into a 5 gallon bucket filled with 1/2 cup of Epson salts & 3 gallons of regular water until the soil stops bubbling, then they are hung up to drip dry... always have ferns that are dark green, glossy, and 3x3 by September from ferns that start out with 7 fronds in May..."
