Lake Wendouree was home to several paddle steamers in the later part of the 1800s and well into the next century. Fairyland was a magic place of narrow waterways where the boats could meander through and passengers could feel they were miles from anywhere.

We have a very special ‪#‎PostcardThursdays‬ for you all this week. David Manning sent five postcards to his family in his time in captivity during the war. David was 18 when he became a prisoner of war on the Thai-Burma Railway. He was only able to send five postcards to his family during that time, and encoded the message by scratching out the Japanese propaganda printed on the cards.
