Vase, 1906 Blue & white jasper ware with two green & white jasper ware panels / Pieces of Wedgwood Display - State Library of NSW. Wedgwood’s association with Australia started in the 1770s when the firm produced cameo portraits depicting scientists and collectors connected with Cook’s Pacific voyages. This display comes from the Mitchell Library’s realia collection. The collection includes 70 Wedgwood medallions, portrait medallions & vases dating from the 18th to the 21st centuries.

Dulcie Deamer, (1890-1972) was famous for appearing at the 1923 Artists Ball in her leopard skin costume. Officially crowned the Queen of Bohemia, she lived in Kings Cross during its heyday in the 1920s (the Golden Decade) when it was an enclave for struggling artists and writers.
