Injustice Poem By Sue Ellson Text, audio and description online at https://sueellson.com/blog/injustice-poem Without fault My presence I brought Without intent A battle I fought False allegations Were laid against me For being myself I was judged critically Favourites breezed through Authenticity was denied Hidden daggers were thrown I was set up to fail and decried Facts were obscured My representation a joke No chance for fairness Beneath an invisible cloak Some are protected Without merit Whilst some are targeted And just have to wear it Why the injustice Why the shame Why feel guilty When I am not to blame Why the pain Of power and ego Why the torment And the challenges I went through How to heal My raging anger How to stop Feeling a failure How to reflect And process my narr
Spirit's Voice Poem By Sue Ellson
Spirit’s Voice By Sue Ellson You know the truth You know the way You’ve seen my hand You’ll be okay You have suffered Long enough I know your pain It has been tough But I am here To remind you now Life is good You’ll see somehow Maybe it will take A little while yet But I am here Do not forget You do not need To fight alone Or find a way To do it on your own To truly be I invite you to listen My voice you’ll hear In any prison So release the rage Of trapped emotions Prepare to sail On any oceans The waves will come And you will rise You will cope With any size And when you rest Upon the shore You’ll have the strength For all the more For spirit’s voice Is always here for you Providing calm com
Purpose Poem By Sue Ellson
Purpose Poem By Sue Ellson What is my purpose For life and living How do I ensure I’m constantly thriving What is worth doing How should I feel When will I get there And truly be real Will it take research Or a helpful adviser Where can I turn To start to feel wiser I am here now So I’ve done something right But I’ve drawn a blank And lost all sight Could there be a reason Why the answer escapes me Should I simply wait For what is my destiny Could I leave it to chance Or wait for a sign Perhaps I’m impatient To know what is mine What I know now Is that I feel uncertain If I had a purpose We could raise the curtain The show would start The play would begin And at the end The audience would grin But what if my purpose Didn’t need a name Could I continue Life’s unpredictable game
Wordless Poem By Sue Ellson
Wordless Poem By Sue Ellson Without words to speak I live in presence Wordless silence Allows my essence Away from thought Trauma or fear I choose the moment And all that’s near In awe and wonder Of my experience To truly be me In complete existence Without a narrative Performed or pried Alert and aware With nothing to chide Without words My soul can feel I can find my truth And all that’s real
Loneliness Poem By Sue Ellson
Loneliness Poem By Sue Ellson Lonely without connection Lonely on my own Lonely is a perception Outside my comfort zone Without any distractions My addictions and replacements It sneaks up silently and unwelcome In all kinds of different places I could be home alone Or out in a large crowd I could be wearing a mask Trapped by what’s allowed I could be my own best friend And do what brings me joy But when I feel loneliness Company is my best decoy So I’ll acknowledge my displeasure I’ll consider all my choices I’m sure I could go outside And find some local voices I’ll smile as I walk the streets I’ll casually say hello I might even borrow a dog Who can join me as I go I can visit the local shops I can catch a bus or train I’m sure to find some passengers To get me talking again
Dignity Poem By Sue Ellson
Dignity Poem By Sue Ellson Here in the moment I make a choice To live with dignity I choose my voice I select what I say I muse with care I focus on truth I do what’s fair I hear laments I listen and learn I know my boundaries I can discern When to respond How to react Why I wince But keep my pact It may not be easy To live with dignity To honour each person And still truly be me But with understanding Trust and empathy I’ll find my flow On the tide of dignity
Billabong Retreat By Sue Ellson
Billabong Retreat Poem By Sue Ellson By the billabong With trees and plants I hear the birds Singing sweet chants By the billabong I retreat from life To pause and ponder All manner of strife By the billabong The air is clear The water so still It reminds me to hear By the billabong I see a new The beauty of nature And humanity too By the billabong The fire is lit The earth beneath Allows me to sit By the billabong My heart is healed My body is treated And my mind revealed Lurking within Life’s accumulated memories Some good, some bad And my collected worries My hopes and fears The billabong accepts A life well lived Moves past regrets Heaven’s tears Fill the billabong Enough for me And everyone It is safe to feel Pain and heartache Be nourished and nurtured And remember what’s g
Expectations Poem By Sue Ellson
Expectations Poem By Sue Ellson A wistful thought A hopeful belief A fantasy imagined An expectation I’d like to meet But why does my imagined reality Fail to complete My heart’s longing Seems so out of reach Striving Seeking Searching Trying Pushing Prodding But never finding Yet beauty is present In sight and sound But a soul denied Is more lost than found In the haze of hope We are blind to love Our mind’s control Takes what we dream of Vanity dictates our perception And denies the truth But if we change our perspective We could be our own sleuth We could release our vision And awaken possibility We could be present and wise And respond instinctively For an expectation is a battle To fight for and to win What it is that we wish to claim But that is our sin Yes we can dream And
Flourish Poem By Sue Ellson
Flourish Poem By Sue Ellson In a world of messages designed to reach you designed to convince you designed to change you How do you flourish You try and choose what is right for you what is aligned for you what is best for you But how do you flourish You make a decision that is right that is made right that wasn’t right But how do you flourish You carry on despite the grind despite the chaos despite the loss And somehow you flourish For the human spirit Is built to survive With or without What you most desire To truly be Look around and see You have flourished before And you will some more

Definition of Success Poem By Sue Ellson
Definition of Success Poem By Sue Ellson What is My definition of success Surely it is more Than avoiding distress Could it be The courage to say no To stay in my frame And keep my boundaries aglow Could it be To see myself in the mirror Admire the form and function And feel my inner glimmer Could it be Facing every new day With realistic expectations In a kindly way Could it be A deep inner knowing That despite so many rejections I will just keep on going Could it be Ignoring society’s norms Living my own values In all of their forms Could it be The difficulties I manage Living moment to moment And dealing with damage Could it be The strength to breathe When I’m slowly suffocating And aching to be free Could it be The overwhelming bliss Of an unexpected surprise Or a granted wis
Australia Poem By Sue Ellson
Australia Poem By Sue Ellson An island continent Surrounded by sea The land we call Australia Steeped in history An indigenous culture Of science and story A welcoming place To live in glory A civilised country With a fair democracy A curious collective Still willing to see A better, kinder way Inclusive and friendly Nevertheless still learning How to truly be So much to enjoy And explore for free So long as we continue To do it respectfully As we reflect And cherish with such glee Australia, thank you For receiving us so greatly
Conversation Poem By Sue Ellson
Conversation Poem By Sue Ellson We are taught to read We are taught to write We are not taught to listen It simply isn’t right Everyone has a story That needs acknowledging To truly be heard And ease their suffering In every moment We can fund the sunny We can find the funny We can find the honey We can connect We can grow We can dissect We can see below Into all of the reasons From all of their seasons Behind the mask of symptoms We can find their problems There may not be An instant cure But if we listen We’ll find what’s pure Every meeting Of four eyes Is a chance to engage And explore their whys As we listen As we laugh As we learn We find the heart Of what it is We all desire To share the flame Of our soul’s fire Confirm how they feel Identify the because Put it in words Th
