Special Breakfast Sunday

Special Breakfast Sunday was an idea I came up with when my younger son was four months old. The little one was suffering with reflux and I wanted to do something to return some of the focus onto my (then) two year-old. A weekly breakfast seemed like an appropriate thing to do. It has evolved into a bit of a food art thing. The internet has been a great source of inspiration to us so we thought we'd return the favour and create this page!

Toast trains - made with a train 'cookie cutter' (from Target, but you could easily cut out your own basic shape). Red and blue colours created with cream cheese and food dye with a bit of honey mixed in. Details cut out of cheese and fruit leather with cookie cutter shapes.

Apple, sultana and cinnamon pull-apart, adapted from this recipe for cheesy vegemite pull-aparts: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/22132/cheesy+vegemite+pull+apart (We just substituted the cheese and vegemite with stewed apple, sultanas and cinnamon and sprinkled the top with raw sugar to caramelise it.)
