✨TWO DIFFERENT ROUTINES FOR CAT NAPPERS (best suits 3-6 months)✨
Ah catnapping! It can make it tough to plan your days right?! One of my favourite ways to handle cat napping or short naps in general is to use a BRIDGING NAP to keep the day on track without your little one becoming overtired 🙌🏻 If you listened to my stories this week, you’ll know cat napping is completely normal until 5ish months so intentionally following a 4 nap schedule is also completely okay!
No two babies are the same when it comes to sleep
When looking at sleep, comparison can be soooo real 😵 but its important to remember that each baby has unique sleep needs, temperament traits and sensory preferences and this impacts everything, including their sleep! And not just their sleep needs, but also how they respond to settling and how they sleep in different environments 🙊
Feeling a little more tired than usual?
The days can be long. And the nights even longer. But it doesn’t have to be like this, one constant sleep struggle. I have a range of different items available that you can use to get a little more sleep. Something I know we all want more of!
Have you heard of the Moro “Startle” Reflex?
It’s when babies fling their arms and legs out, as though they have been startled. This reflex is why it is suggested that you wrap your babies or use a Love To Dream suit to stop this from happening and causing your babe to wake.
Oh no! Did you little one not sleep today?
Ugh. The worst feeling ever. 😑 You put them down for their nap. Carefully close the door aka ninja stealth style and wander into the kitchen to enjoy your hot coffee and then you hear them. 😓 They may not be crying, but they are definitely awake. What are they doing?! First up, pause - sometimes, baby’s can come out of their light sleep and go right back to sleep 🙌🏻 but, other times they will wake 😓 If they do wake, try these things! Ps. Use the early bedtime for baby's over 6month🥰
Concerned about your baby feeding to sleep?
Are you currently feeding your baby to sleep while you are reading this? 🙋‍♀️ If this is something that you do want to move away from feeding to sleep, we can use the gentlest of gentle sleep techniques to help nudge baby in the direction of more independent sleep by layering in sleep associations, and gently weaning back from the feed while we hero them 😱
Sleep and Solids
Let me guess, your baby has just started solids and bam, their routine is all over the place? Or are they now sleeping blissfully through the night? Little tummies can take some time getting used to digesting all the additional food. This is why its best to start with one meal at a time and gradually work to two and then three (particularly if you are using purées) For other tummies, the solid food is just what they needed and leaves them feeling full and sleeping peacefully overnight 🙌🏻
