This is a cute Wombat. They are native to Australia and according to Wikipedia, the name wombat comes from the now nearly extinct Darug language spoken by the Aboriginal Darug people who originally inhabited the Sydney area.

Also my neighbourhood - Darug country. (My Australian ancestors are largely from the Cumberland Plain).  "The territory that was indisputably Darug Boorooberongal-Warmuli (Darug Lore) was the Cumberland Plain in western Sydney, that stretches from Wisemans Ferry in the north down to around Camden in the south. The Darug people extended into the foothills of the Blue Mountains in the west and the Hills District to the east."
