Salvatore Vasta, a former Sicilian, worked in Australia as a cane-cutter and labourer for most of his life. Although he arrived in this country with only ten shillings in his pocket he managed to put his three sons through university. One graduated as an engineer, another as a doctor, and the third as a lawyer. A proud moment for Mr Salvatore Vasta, 64, formerly from Sicily, pictured with his three sons in the grounds of Melbourne University in 1964.
