Sand VS. Straw Or Shavings In The Coop
sand vs. straw or shavings in the chicken coop: I asked my grandma which they used in their coops growing up and she said dirt. Yes, the dirt on the ground, no built floor, just on top of the dirt, because dirt has natural sanitizing properties and so they had to whitewash the coop, but didn't have to really ever clean it.
Budget101 - For those who are thinking about getting some starter chicks for fresh eggs this year, consider hanging a feather duster in the brood box. It gives them a place to snuggle and greatly reduces stress as they have a new "momma" ✿Like✿´¯`*•.¸¸✿Follow #Budget101✿¯`*•.¸¸♥Share♥ For more on Homesteading, check out: http://www.budget101.com/homesteading/ (¯`•.•´¯)¸•´¯`☆ .`•.¸¸.•´♥ #Budget101 #homesteading #home #chicks #chickens #backyardchickens #brood #diy FB Share on my Personal page, re-sharing!
