Cockington Green - just A-MAZ-ING! Miniature displays and gardens, a mini steam train ride, picnic area with kids play ground, cafe and gift shop. If your kids love dollhouses lock your wallet up before you enter the gift shop! It is a bit expensive but we only go maybe once a year and it's well worth the money. Located at Gold Creek near other tourist attractions, cafes and shops. Also the George Harcourt Inn is just across the road and they are kid friendly and have good food.

Hire a bike and ride around Lake Burleigh Griffin in the centre of Canberra. We hire from Mr Spokes, and they have this pedal car as well as adult bikes, kids bikes, kids seats on adult bikes,  tag-alongs and trailers so there's an option for almost any age child.

The National Zoo and Aquarium - I haven't been since before I became a mum, but I really enjoyed it and I know my boys would too. It's a bit expensive which is why we haven't taken the boys there yet.

Corin Forest - lots of mountain adventure here summer or winter. No entry fee with BBQ and picnic facilities. There is a flying fox, alpine bob sled and water slide (summer only) you pay for, with different pricing options to suit most people. But best of all in winter there is SNOW, and only 45 mins from parliament house instead of a 3-4 hr drive to the ski fields. Great for kids to play in the snow so close to Canberra. And a cafe - haven't been for many years but it used to have a roaring…

Canberra Reptile Sanctuary - all indoors and smaller than I expected, but the kids love it and it's located at Gold Creek which has loads of cafes, shops and other tourist attractions for kids and adults alike.
