My Small Country Cottage - Aussie Style

Welcome to My Small Country Cottage - Aussie Style and my quest to reducing my environmental footprint by designing and building an affordable house in Australia. The project also included the refurbishment and renovation of an historical wood slab building that has belong to my family since my Great Grandfather helped build it in 1878. The complex is designed to be entirely off the grid and self sufficient.

Waif is the latest addition to the old wool co-op. We don't know much about Waif. Corah the border collie x just brought he home one day. Waif following along after her up the paddock. Walked inside and has never felt the need to leave the co-op or my bed for that matter.
Meet Tom my number 1 bestest mate. Been with me since he was 9 weeks old, through good times and bad. Tom doesn't do much around the place, he figures he doesn't have to because his good looks always get him through!
This is Cora - Border Collie/Australian Koolie cross. Corah is the larakin around the place. Rescued from the pound with 30 minutes to live, she got off to a bad start in life. But, what a treat she is! Loves frisbee and the ball. Her jobs are to keep the goats off the septic tank and out of the veggie patch. And to keep those Pesky rabbits out. She takes her responsibilities very seriously! No telling her what to do, she just does it.
Those rewarding moments when you reach a milestone, sit back a look! The Gable section of the shed completed. Floor sanded and sealed - Thanks to Phil's flooring.
It's mornings like these when you wonder what in the hell was I thinking starting this?
An excellent example of how floors used to be done. Bearers on rocks. We strengthened the old floor with star pickets and batten screws . . Worked a treat.
Termite and rot! We fixed the problem by inserting steel posts inside the old.
