"A.M." model I.C. engines

A-M was started in the 1950s as a collaboration between 3 people, Dennis Allen, who had the engineering/production know-how, Henry Nicholls, who ran Mercury Models, (and provided/arranged most of the finance?), and Len Steward, who had worked for various model engine companies, (Kemp engines, then AMCO. It's well documented how Len designed and built a 2.5 diesel which was offered to AMCO and possibly E.D., but they were not interested. The design moved with Len to A-M and became the Mk.1 A-M 25

an old carburet sits on the ground next to a box
A.M. 25 "beehive" 2.5cc diesel
From 1954, the very first Allen-Mercury engine, the A.M. 25 "beehive" (one with a non-standard PAW needle valve). I wonder what the trick to tightening down those two nuts securing the cylinder muff was?

ALLEN-MERCURY 1cc DIESEL ENGINE.
This must be a late version of the A-M 10. I had never seen one without the green anodized cylinder muff. And the crankcase is a matte finish!! Regardless, it is a beautiful engine and strictly new in a box with papers.
