Is it okay to have timber in the bathroom?
We often get a lot of people asking this, concerned that it will ruin over time and not have the longevity they're looking for. But this isn't the case! Timber is okay in the bathroom if it is treated properly both before installation and throughout its lifetime. In this bathroom we used an exterior marine-grade polyurethane coating on the reclaimed Tasmanian oak timber and it's worked a treat. Choose a water-resistant oil that will absorb into the timber well if using timber in wet areas.

Reclaimed timber bathroom
This beautiful bathroom we created using reclaimed Australian Hardwood from the demolition. During the renovations the timber was set aside, and we were able to restore it to look as good as new. Paired with the fun and artistic tile feature and splashback from @urbanedgeceramics, we were able to add some personality to the space. Looking to refresh your bathrooms? We can help you reuse your old materials or completely start afresh.
